Dog Mum Gift Ideas: Find Her Breed and You’ve Found Her Gift

Dog Mum Gift Ideas: Find Her Breed and You’ve Found Her Gift

Buying for a dog mum is either ridiculously easy or nearly impossible.

She probably already owns a dog mug, has hundreds of photos on her phone and doesn’t need another generic paw-print present.

But if you know her dog’s breed, I think you already have the biggest clue.

Why does her dog’s breed make the gift personal?

Dog mums don’t just love dogs. We love our dogs and all the funny little traits that make them who they are.

As Rieko’s dog mum, I know his habits, expressions and quirks better than anyone. He isn’t simply a dog who lives in my home. He is part of the family, the CEO of Rieko’s World and, apparently, the person in charge of the cushions and the house.

It is the same for other dog mums.

  • A Labrador mum understands the constant search for snacks, tennis balls and muddy water.
  • A Dachshund mum knows how a dog with such short legs can have such an enormous personality.
  • A German Shepherd mum lives with a devoted bodyguard who must investigate every unexpected noise.
  • A Boxer mum knows that underneath the athletic appearance is an affectionate family clown with absolutely no sense of personal space.
  • That recognition is what turns a simple present into something that makes her say:

“That is SO my dog.”

A dog breed gift feels personal without being complicated

Personal gifts often require photographs, design approvals and long production times.

A breed-specific gift gives you that same feeling of recognition without the complicated custom order.

I created our Dog Mum Breed Definition Prints around the recognisable traits and quirks dog mums love about their breed.

You simply find her breed and choose digital, printed on hardback or framed.

Which dog breed print format should you choose?

I wanted to offer the prints in three formats because people shop, gift and style their homes differently.

Digital print

I love digital prints because they are flexible and make brilliant last-minute gifts.

If an unexpected visitor is arriving, I have forgotten an occasion or I suddenly need a present, I can purchase the artwork, download it and print it without waiting for delivery.

The recipient can also choose a frame that suits her own home, which makes the finished gift feel even more personal.

Printed on hardback

For me, the hardback version sits perfectly between digital and framed.

It saves the hassle of printing the artwork at home, but still gives the dog mum the freedom to frame and style it her way.

It is a good option when you want to give her a finished physical print but aren’t sure whether she prefers black, white, timber or another frame style.

Framed print

Choose framed when you want a complete gift that is ready to display.

I personally love arranging framed prints together as a gallery wall. Using matching frames in different styles and sizes creates a consistent look, while the different breeds and definitions give every print its own personality.

A framed print also works beautifully on its own above a console, on a shelf or alongside photographs of her dog.

How can she display her dog breed print?

Dog décor doesn’t need to look like the pet aisle has exploded across the house.

I like mixing breed prints with everyday home décor so they feel like a genuine part of the room.

She could:

  • Style one framed print on a shelf with books and a plant

  • Hang it above an entryway console

  • Add it to her home office or studio

  • Display it beside photographs of her dog

  • Combine several breed prints into a gallery wall

The simple black-and-white artwork works particularly well in modern, coastal and relaxed homes.

What if you don’t know her dog’s breed?

A little quiet investigation may be required.

Check her Instagram, ask a mutual friend or casually bring up dogs in conversation. Most dog mums need very little encouragement to start discussing their dog in detail.

If you still aren’t sure, send me a photograph and ask. Rieko and I take breed-related enquiries very seriously, particularly when we should be doing something else.

Find her breed and you’ve found her gift

The best gifts for dog mums aren’t necessarily the biggest or most expensive.

They are the ones that make us feel understood.

Find her breed, choose digital, hardback or framed, and give her something that feels unmistakably like her dog.
